Spice Indian restaurant is committed to providing good healthy food. All of our
ingredients are carefully sourced. We use fresh vegetables and herbs daily, time
and care is given to choosing our spices weekly. We have decided to offer our ‘new
menu’ to cater for those of you who would like to make vegetarian choices or for
those who have food intolerances. Our new menu has all of the flavours and taste
but is more vegetable based and leaves you feeling full.
Our main menu is tailored to your needs and we are also focusing on providing
interesting food options for our customers who are intolerant or allergic to certain
food types. We have noticed that there is an increase in the number of people with
specific dietary requirements. We cater for dairy free, egg free, nut free, gluten and
wheat free in particular. This way the whole family can enjoy your food experience in
Spice in an effortless stress free manner.
Indian food has a long tradition with using health promoting spices. Here in Spice
we use generous amounts of fresh herbs such as coriander. Coriander has many
health promoting properties and is known as the cleansing herb as it promotes
detoxification and healing in the body. Cumin seed and ground cumin form part of
our curry and Balti mix. Cumin is widely used in all of our cooking. Cumin is a
fantastic spice for supporting the digestive and immune function. Cinnamon is
another spice that is used ubiquitously in our food preparation. It is showing great
promise for its ability to influence healthy blood sugar control and also support
digestion. Turmeric is the yellow spice that gives Indian food its colour. It contains a
plant chemical called curcumin. Curcumin is a powerful antioxidant which simply
means it supports a healthy body. It has anti-cancer properties and is very cleansing
for the body.
Tomato sauces form many of our dishes. Tomatoes are wonderful plants. When we
cook tomatoes, we render their plant chemicals more bio-available to the body.
Tomatoes support both male and female health. They contain a plant chemical
called lycopene which protects the cells in the body from damage. We use the
brightest peppers and chillies here in Spice. We are aware that the colours in these
plants confer huge support to the body. They are one of the highest sources of plant
chemicals available to eat. When we eat them they nourish and support the cells of
the body and the immune system. Most Indian dishes are onion based. The humble
onion has much to offer the body nutritionally. Onions contain many plant chemicals
and are nutritionally super powerhouses. We are very proud here in Spice that we
can offer our customers fresh nutritious healthy choices.
If you have any special dietary requirements, please do not hesitate to ask any staff
member. We are delighted to cater for vegetarians and vegans and offer you a truly
tasty experience here.
